Meet Dr FPJ Snyman
Dr Franz Snyman, originally from Randburg, graduated from the University of the Free State. After completing his internship in Bloemfontein, he worked in Gwynedd District Hospital in North Wales. From his love for Reconstructive Surgery and Arthroplasty, a profound interest in Tumour and Limb Preservation surgery was born. In 2005 he worked with Keith Hosking in the Cape Town Bone Tumour Unit. In June 2006 he was presented with the opportunity to do a Fellowship at the Orthopaedic Oncology Unit of the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, UK. He gained invaluable experience in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty, including Revision Arthroplasty. His main focus was tumour resections and limb salvage, as well as Sarcoma treatment and Sepsis. Dr Snyman worked extensively at Milpark Hospital from 2011 to 2015. He gained invaluable experience in the treatment of Osteomyelitis, Septic Arthritis and Septic Arthroplasty under Professor Charles Lautenbach, and still employs the same methods in the treatment of these complex conditions. He furthermore still enjoys treating General Orthopaedic & Trauma cases, including Arthroscopy of joints. When Dr Snyman isn’t with his patients, can he often be found enjoying family time, climbing mountains and deep-sea diving or riding bikes.
